Occassionally, a college football coach will say something that makes you stop in your tracks. Ryan Day’s comment on Wednesday while meeting with the media might be one of those moments.

Six games into the season, the Buckeyes are undefeated, winning each game by 24 points or more. Some believe Ohio State is one of the best teams in the country and is capable of having a really special year.

With all that praise coming to Columbus, Day was asked how he keeps his players from getting overconfident heading into the second half of the season. His response makes you wonder just how dangerous this Ohio State team can be.

“We have a lot to prove so I don’t think that’s going to be an issue,” Day said, according to Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch.

It’s understandable why Day would say something like. Ohio State has been left out of the College Football Playoff each of the last two seasons and suffered two inexplicable losses to Iowa and Purdue the past two seasons.

The Buckeyes are trying to prove they won’t succumb to that letdown performance.

Still, it’s a little scary to think about the kind of potential this team has if it stays locked in. And it sounds like the Buckeyes are on a path to proving they’re one of the best teams in the country.
