Ryan Day previews upcoming B1G East matchup vs. Maryland in weekly presser
Last Saturday saw Ohio State absolutely dismantle Rutgers on the road with a 52-13 victory. The Buckeyes put up 45 points before heading to the locker room at the half, and the day was a relatively stress-free cruise to their third straight victory since their loss to Oregon.
The Buckeyes will have a bye week after hosting Maryland this weekend, and enter the game with an all time 6-0 record against the Terps — including a 73-14 victory the last time the two met.

Day took to the podium on Tuesday, and here is some of what he had to say in anticipation of Saturday’s game with the Terps.
Ryan Day says Cameron Brown is currently working through another injury, but Ohio State is hoping he's through the worst of that and can play his best football in the second half of the season.

Day acknowledges that linebacker depth is an issue right now. Palaie Gaoteote didn't play last week because of injury and Dallas Gant and K'Vaughan Pope have departed.

Day on TreVeyon Henderson's status: "He's good to go."
— Bill Rabinowitz 🗞 (@brdispatch) October 5, 2021
Ryan Day says Marcus Williamson just had his best week of preparation. He says Williamson got rid of a lot of distractions, and has really improved his energy and attitude, and had one of his best games against Rutgers.

Day on shuffling offensive line vs. Rutgers: "We've got some guys nicked up a little bit. We also have 6-7 guys we feel confident in."
— Bill Rabinowitz 🗞 (@brdispatch) October 5, 2021
Ryan Day says Mitch Rossi is the only walk-on who has been placed on scholarship this year, though there are several others who have been playing regularly on special teams.
— Dan Hope (@Dan_Hope) October 5, 2021
Day on what he's most proud of last three weeks: I'm proud of the development over the last month. It's been bumpy at times. We're growing. I think we have a really bright future. The question is how quickly can we get to being a team that can win a championship."
— Bill Rabinowitz 🗞 (@brdispatch) October 5, 2021
Day said he thought it would "take a little bit longer than it has" for Henderson to emerge. But he said he was impressed by his work ethic in the spring.

Ryan Day: “I thought we played better last week, but we gotta take the next step this week.” Says Maryland will present another challenge this week with good personnel and good scheme.
— Dan Hope (@Dan_Hope) October 5, 2021
"We had one good week, and now we gotta go do it again. But there is momentum there." Ryan Day says the team "isn't out of the woods yet."
— Griffin Strom (@GriffinStrom3) October 5, 2021
On J.T. Tuimoloau: "Those young guys have had a lot on their plate… it's kind of a baptism by fire." Ryan Day says it's "going to pay off huge dividends for these guys."
— Griffin Strom (@GriffinStrom3) October 5, 2021
On Craig Young and Ronnie Hickman not splitting time at bullet: "We're moving Craig into a little bit of a different role there." Ryan Day says the team is trying to get them both on the field at the same time.
— Griffin Strom (@GriffinStrom3) October 5, 2021
Day says they have to do the best they can to get the ball to the guys who deserve to get touches, but they can't let that rule the day. If the defense is dropping eight guys, they have to run the ball and can't force it to wide receivers.
— BuckeyeScoop (@BuckeyeScoop) October 5, 2021
Day says when you lose a game you have to be steady and not panic. They have to figure out why they lost, what went wrong, and then fix it.
They know better days are coming, and work through issues. It's a little harder to do that at OSU, but they did it.
— BuckeyeScoop (@BuckeyeScoop) October 5, 2021
Day on Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa: Said he has a quick release, can make short and long throws and is a student of the game.
— Bill Rabinowitz 🗞 (@brdispatch) October 5, 2021
Day on Maryland: Said they're talented. He dismisses the 51-14 Iowa loss. "Last week, throw that game out. They're dangerous."
— Bill Rabinowitz 🗞 (@brdispatch) October 5, 2021
Day's beard has grown back. After Saturday's win, he isn't going to shave it now. "It's not going to change right now. I'm going to keep it going."
— Bill Rabinowitz 🗞 (@brdispatch) October 5, 2021
Day says when Haskell Garrett blocked the PAT it just showed that they're not going to put their heads down and mope after a bad play. They're not going to flinch, and that's a sign of a team that's maturing.
— BuckeyeScoop (@BuckeyeScoop) October 5, 2021
Day says they felt like they were making progress last week during practice, but there's still a long way to go and a lot of development that the young guys have to show. "You've got to go earn it every week. Nothing's going to be given."
