Smith-Njiba developed a hamstring injury in the season opener against Notre Dame. While Fleming, on the other hand, has not started a game yet this season after getting injured in Buckeyes preseason camp.

During Day’s weekly press conference on Tuesday, he honed in more on the statuses of both key playmakers, Smith-Njigba and Fleming.

“He’s further along than he was at this point last week,” Day said on the status of Njigba to play in the Toledo game. He is expected to play but only if he is fully healthy.

Day also expects Fleming to play this week, as well.

Ohio Stadium will be rolling this weekend, even more so if Day’s expectations align with these two receivers starting against Toledo. The game will be at 7:00 p.m. ET.
