Ohio State head coach Ryan Day reported some unfortunate news earlier during fall camp and it didn’t get much better on Tuesday.
Defensive lineman Tyler Friday suffered a torn ACL and Day indicated his 2021 season is over. The Buckeyes leader made the comment on his radio show on Tuesday afternoon. Friday suffered the injury while training on his own during the offseason.

Friday, a senior, has played in 26 games during his time in Columbus, making 5 starts. Over the course of his career, the lineman has collected 18 tackles, 3 sacks and a fumble recovery for the Buckeyes.
The loss of Friday is certainly a blow for Ohio State entering a season in which it plays Minnesota and No. 11 Oregon in the first two weeks of the season. If there’s a silver lining, though, it’s that Friday intends to return to Columbus next year.
Friday battled injury during the 2020 season but played in 5 of the team’s 8 games. In 2019, he appeared in 11 contests and made 4 starts.
