Ryan Day reacts to Marvin Harrison Jr.'s huge day in win over Penn State
Ryan Day praised Marvin Harrison Jr. in the moments after Ohio State’s 20-12 win over Penn State on Saturday.
Harrison had a massive impact on the game. He finished with 11 catches for 162 yards and a touchdown. That touchdown came with just 4:07 remaining in the game and ultimately proved to be the decisive score in the game.
Day was asked about Harrison’s performance in his postgame interview with Jenny Taft on FOX.
“‘He’s a tremendous talent,’ that’s what every defensive coordinator says,” Day said. “‘The first thing we’re gonna do is not let Marvin Harrison Jr. beat us,’ so you stay up late trying to figure out ways to get him the ball. I thought we were creative, we didn’t execute a lot of them today. Even that third down play, to get open … He’s a weapon for us obviously and our best player on offense.
“I just think the standard he has set here, his work ethic, and what he means to Ohio State. It’s about leaving a legacy behind, and we’re only halfway through the season so I’m not going to go there yet, but he’s on his way.”
Here’s a replay of Harrison’s 18-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter that helped OSU secure the win:
