Ryan Day was head coach at Ohio State for around a month a year ago.
He didn’t lose a game then. Six weeks into this season — his first full one as head coach — he still hasn’t lost. A lot of word is buzzing around Day potentially moving on from Ohio State and taking an even bigger job.
Where could that be? The NFL.
Which team needs a head coach? How about the Washington Redskins, who just fired Jay Gruden a day ago.

Is there any connection between Day and the Redskins job? Oddly enough, there is. The Redskins spent its first round draft pick this past year on Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Day, of course, spent time a year ago coaching Haskins.
Washington also drafted Buckeye WR Terry McLaurin this past year as well. If Day wanted to move on to the professional ranks, the Redskins job isn’t exactly a stretch to think there may be some interest.
On Tuesday, while Day met with the media, he was asked about the potential of moving on:
Day on NFL coaching rumors: “I love it here. This is where I want to be.”
Day mentioned he doesn’t want to have to answer questions about NFL jobs for the next “5, 10, hopefully 20 years” while he’s at Ohio State.

Ryan Day said he values stability: “It is the worst thing to go home to your family and tell them they have to move again.”
Day said he and his wife didn’t grow up that way. They lived in their same home town their entire life.

Day says he wants to stay and loves it in Columbus. And, maybe that’s true. What may be more interesting is the fact that he brought up that him and his wife value stability and didn’t grow up moving from place to place.
That, potentially more than anything else, may hold the most value in terms of what is actually going on in Day’s head about potential NFL rumors.
