Ryan Day shares hilarious story how he found out about B1G expansion while with Chip Kelly
It’s not every day that you get to be in the same place as 1 of your future B1G opponents. That was the case for Ryan Day and his friend Chip Kelly when he found out USC and UCLA we’re joining the B1G in 2024.
Day and Kelly were apparently golfing together when the news broke. Big Ten Network’s Alex Roux posted Day’s retelling of the story on Twitter. Day said that once he found out about the news he leaned out of his golf cart and told Kelly, “Hey, we’re in the same conference now.”

That’s certainly 1 way to tell someone they’ve moved conferences. The 2 friends will now get to coach against each other come 2024. Picturing Day’s reaction to the news makes it that much better.
