Ryan Day on Wednesday spoke to the media for the first time since the Cotton Bowl, and said new offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is working at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

The Buckeyes have made significant improvements to their roster since the bowl game, including transfers from Alabama’s Caleb Downs and Julian Sayin, as well as Kansas State QB Will Howard.

Day had no other update about O’Brien’s candidacy for the Boston College opening. Reports have suggested that O’Brien is nearing a deal to leave the Buckeyes. Day was expected to give up play-calling duties this season.

“No real updates there,” Day said. “He’s working today and we’ll see how it goes.”

Day also said he’s about a week away from hiring Ohio State’s 10th assistant, and said he has multiple options to fill the role.
