Chase Young’s absence hasn’t really been felt by Ohio State the last two weeks. The Buckeyes still managed to register lopsided victories over Maryland and Rutger while the star defensive end was serving a two-game NCAA suspension.

This week, though, Ohio State will need its star lineman back on the field against No. 8 Penn State. And Young is happy to be back on the field for the biggest game of the season in the B1G.

During his weekly radio show on 97.1 The Fan, Ryan Day talked about Young’s return to the field this weekend, and how expects the defensive end to respond after missing the last two contests.

“He’s excited. He’s looking forward to playing. He’s had a good week of practice,” Day said.

“Anytime something is taken from you, have an appreciation for it and I think that’s where Chase is at.”

This season, Young has collected 13.5 sacks, forced five fumbles and 29 total tackles. He’s been an unstoppable force every time he’s on the field. Before the suspension, many were considering Young to be a serious contender for the Heisman Trophy.

After missing two weeks and not playing since October (along with Ohio State’s off week), there will be some concerns about Young’s readiness to get back on the field and play a full game. We’ll see if that impacts the defensive end, or if he’s back to his dominant self against Penn State.
