Ryan Day met with media Wednesday to discuss the state of Ohio State football as we inch closer to spring practice. During the availability, Day teased the upcoming quarterback competition between Devin Brown and Kyle McCord with CJ Stroud off to the NFL.

Replacing a quarterback of Stroud’s caliber is never and easy ask, but McCord and Brown both offer positives. Here’s what Day said about the upcoming competition.

McCord holds a bit of an edge in experience. The 5-star from the Class of 2021 saw some game action this past season, completing 16 of 20 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown.

Brown, a 4-star from Draper, Utah, did not record any passing stats in 2022, but is perhaps the more athletic of the 2 signal callers. To Day’s point, with strong receivers such as Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka, as well as a group of talented running backs in TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams returning, playing in this offense is a thing of dreams for these potential starting QBs.

Spring ball can’t get here soon enough.
