According to the Columbus Dispatch, Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Greg Schiano was involved in a car accident this morning.

The first-year assistant was reportedly driving when his vehicle struck a cyclist on the corner of West Lane Avenue and Fred Taylor Drive in Columbus.

The cyclist was a 26-year-old male student. He suffered a head injury and was in stable condition before being taken to Wexner Medical Center at Ohio State University. He’s expected to survive.

Schiano was uninjured and he reported to practice today.

Ohio State confirmed the Dispatch’s report and responded with a statement on the accident.

“We are very concerned about the young man who was injured,” said Chris Davey, assistant vice president for media relations. “Our concern lies with supporting him in every way we can.”

The accident remains under investigation by Columbus police.
