No. 6 Ohio State is arriving to the Rose Bowl Stadium setting for a potentially exciting matchup against No. 11 Utah. As players are going into their locker room, it became clear that some of the key defensive players that were named “game-time decisions” by head coach Ryan Day will not be playing in the Rose Bowl.

Doral Chenoweth of the Columbus Dispatch reported that starting middle linebacker Cody Simon, cornerback Sevyn Banks, and cornerback Marcus Williamson was listed as unavailable on the team’s pregame availability report shortly before the game.

These are players who have not been practicing as a result of their injuries. Simon was seen walking into the locker room with a sling on his arm.

Utah comes into this game with the 18th ranked scoring offense in the nation (35.5 points per game) and 12th rushing offense in the nation (216.1 rushing yards per game). Sophomore Tommy Eichenberg will make the start at middle linebacker for Ohio State in place of Simon.
