A new report from college football insider Brett McMurphy says that Urban Meyer’s wife, Shelley Meyer, spoke at a conference to draw awareness to and eradicate domestic violence less than two months before Zach Smith was investigated in 2015.

Meyer reportedly spoke at the “College Football Wives 2015” conference in August 2015, addressing the issue of domestic violence. Smith was investigated for domestic violence against his then-wife Courtney Smith in October of 2015.

The event was part of the “Refuse The Abuse” campaign. At the event, Meyer told AL.com “With our coaching staff and Urban, disrespecting women or any violence toward women is one of the rules of the team that is not acceptable.”

Smith had domestic violence allegations against him in 2009 and 2015. the longtime assistant to Urban Meyer was not fired until July 23, 2018.

More of McMurphy’s findings can be found on his Facebook page.
