Ohio State defensive lineman Tommy Togiai is off the board, and he will be staying in the state of Ohio!
With the No. 132 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns nabbed Togiai in the fourth round. He becomes the third defender taken in this draft by the Browns, and he will team up with Northwestern CB Greg Newsome II. Cleveland landed Newsome in the first round on Thursday.
Togiai really burst onto the scene for Ohio State during the shortened 2020 campaign. He posted 23 total tackles to go with 4.5 TFL and three sacks. He teamed up with Haskell Garrett to create a disruptive duo on the interior for the Buckeyes, and now Togiai will make the move to the NFL with Cleveland.
During the pre-draft process, Togiai flexed his strength with an impressive showing on the bench press. He should fit in nicely as the Browns look to improve their defense for 2021 and beyond.
Togiai becomes the second B1G player selected in the fourth round behind Purdue linebacker Derrick Barnes. Togiai is the first Ohio State player off the board Saturday while defensive back Shaun Wade is still available.
