Taron Vincent feels Ohio State’s defense has a chance to be special thanks to the leadership and development of first-year defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.

Vincent also complimented the big performance of linebacker Tommy Eichenberg in the 52-21 win over Wisconsin per Chase Brown of Eleven Warriors.

Vincent knows that Ohio State’s defense is feeling good after the win in its B1G home opener. He spoke for the team and said that they all trust Knowles to put them in a position to make plays.

“I think the confidence is through the roof,” he said. “We all trust coach Knowles to put us in a position to make plays.”

Eichenberg was a dominant force on Saturday, with 14 total tackles. When Vincent was asked about how many of those he deserves credit for, he responded with a joke.

“Give me like 11 of them,” said Vincent.

The defense for Ohio State held Wisconsin to 296 total yards, with 104 coming from the passing game. 14 points of Wisconsin’s points came from the fourth quarter. The Buckeyes are tied for 21st in the nation in points per game (16) and 18th in total yards allowed per game (283).
