TCU's trick play apparently caused Ohio State interim head coach Ryan Day to panic
TCU’s attempt at a trick play during a kickoff in last Saturday’s game against Ohio State really fooled Ryan Day. So much so, that it caused the Buckeyes’ interim head coach to panic.
During Saturday’s game, TCU attempted a trick play during a kickoff, having one player lie down in the end zone in an attempt to go unnoticed. According to head coach Urban Meyer, that’s when panic set in.
At his weekly radio show, Meyer explained that, during the play, one of Ohio State’s coaches spoke into the headset saying, “there’s a man down in the end zone.” Apparently, Day thought that meant a player had been shot.

It caused Day to yell frantically into the headset.
Meyer said the TCU player who lay on the turf to disguise himself for the lateral on the kickoff caught Ryan Day's attention. Day, Meyer said, thought someone had been shot in the end zone and was yelling frantically on his headset.

In reference to the kickoff return where TCU's Jalen Reagor laid down in the end zone and KaVontae Turpin threw the ball to him, Urban Meyer said Ryan Day heard over the headset that "there's a man down in the end zone" and misinterpreted. "He thought someone got shot."

That’s probably a moment that Day will hear about for years to come.
So, even though TCU’s trick play wasn’t executed perfectly, it certainly had the Ohio State sideline discombobulated.
That has to be worth something, right?
