Tommy Eichenberg has been a monster for Ohio State’s defense all season long. Unfortunately, Eichenberg will not receive the honor of being a finalist for the award going to the nation’s top linebacker.

When the 5 finalists were announced Tuesday, Eichenberg’s name was omitted. Iowa’s Jack Campbell was the lone player out of the B1G to make the list.

While Campbell would likely be a worthy recipient, the inclusion of certain other linebackers is notable. After all, Eichenberg leads the Buckeyes with 105 total tackles, nearly 40 more than the next closest player on Ohio State’s roster this season.

Eichenberg also leads Ohio State with 12 TFL and has included 2.5 sacks and a pick-6 to his credit. In 11 games played this season, Eichenberg has 13+ tackles 4 times and 8+ tackles 7 times.

Eichenberg will probably not lose any sleep over the omission, but a number of fans and media members weighed in on the major snub:
