Buckeyes kicker Noah Ruggles has officially gotten rid of his black stripe following his Week 1 performance.
With that stripe gone, Ruggles is now an official Buckeye. That tradition has been in place since Urban Meyer was at Ohio State and Ryan Day decided to keep it going after he took over for him.

In the video, Ruggles speaks to his teammates after shedding the stripe and as everyone can imagine, he’s ecstatic:
“I’d just like to thank everybody here. Y’all treated me like family from the start,” said Ruggles. “I appreciate all of y’all. Shoutout coach Chris, shoutout the specs and go Bucks!”
In OSU’s win against Minnesota, Ruggles went 7-for-7 in total kicks and had 9 total points against the Golden Gophers. In one of those kicks, Ruggles made a field goal from 35 yards out.
Before becoming a Buckeye, Ruggles was the starting kicker at North Carolina for one season (2019). He finished 19-for-27 on field goals for the Tar Heels that season with a long of 49 yards. He also made all 45 extra-point attempts and finished with 102 total points.
