TreVeyon Henderson, Buckeye defense ignite OSU’s second-half surge

TreVeyon Henderson and Ohio State exploded out of the gates in the second half to jump all over Minnesota. After 13 points throughout the first half, the Buckeyes now have 14 in just over a minute of the second half.
On the first play of scrimmage in the third quarter, Henderson took a handoff and burst through a big hole in the left side of the line. By the time the Gophers could react, he was gone down the sideline and never looked back.
The 75-yard score is the longest of Henderson’s career:

That was just the start of Ohio State’s run with Minnesota trying to pass on its first play of the ensuing drive. Jack Sawyer wrecked that play with a strip sack while JT Tuimoloau recovered the ball and returned it even further into Minnesota territory.

To punctuate the electric start to the second half, Kyle McCord looked toward Marvin Harrison Jr. in a 3rd-and-goal situation. Harrison beat his man off the line, an dit was an easy pitch-and-catch for the touchdown.

After the outburst, Ohio State now leads 27-0 early in the second half. If Minnesota continues to struggle offensively, it will likely be a quick night for the Buckeye starters with bigger stakes looming in Week 13.
