TreVeyon Henderson knows Ohio State’s running back depth is at another level this fall. It’s particularly remarkable that no player left the group via the transfer portal in the offseason, and Henderson’s looking at that depth to push him this season.

“You just gotta compete, man. I knew when I committed here, I knew what I was putting myself into,” said Henderson while speaking with the media. “That’s why I chose the Ohio State University because I know they bring in the best talent each and every year. I’m just trying to compete, compete and get better. Having that depth in that room, it pushes me harder every day. You gotta work, every day it’s a grind. Can’t take no days off, can’t get complacent, just gotta work.”

After 1,500 yards of offense as a true freshman in 2021, Henderson had hopes to be the bell cow back for the Buckeyes in 2022. Unfortunately, he battled injuries and was limited to 8 games a season ago, still managing to rush for 571 yards and 6 touchdowns through it all.

Across the board, injuries took their toll on the RB room in 2022 with Henderson, Miyan Williams and Evan Pryor all missing various amounts of time. The good news is that group returns and is 5 deep to open camp.

With Pryor returning to full health, the Buckeyes start training camp with Henderson, Williams, Dallan Hayden and Chip Trayanum available. That group provides elite depth and a lot of versatility for Ryan Day’s offense.
