Trevor Lawrence is transitioning from one great college football coach to another. He leaves Clemson and Dabo Swinney and joins Urban Meyer with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Both leaders have won multiple national titles at the college level.

The question is whether or not Meyer’s success in college will translate to the NFL.

So far, Lawrence has been impressed by what he’s seen from Meyer from a coaching perspective. He’s already gone as far to say that Meyer is a “great leader,” and that he and Swinney have a lot of similar qualities when it comes to coaching.

“Yeah they’re different in a lot of ways but they’re also similar in a lot of ways,” Lawrence said on Sirius XM NFL Radio. “I think great leaders all have similar traits. A little bit in their personalities. Both of them just command a room. There’s no question who the leader is and what his vision is. That’s one thing I love about coach Meyer. He’s all business and you know he’s the leader of this team. That’s one thing that stands out. He wants to win, not only wants to win but have all the right procedures and routines in place to ensure that.

“We’re on the right track, I feel really good about where we’re at right here with the rookies and the coaching staff. We’re just excited to work with the vets and that’ll be coming here in a few days. So, really excited for that. I think we’re in a great spot though.”

Lawrence and Meyer will be learning together in Jacksonville. This will be Meyer’s first time coaching in the professional ranks and Lawrence will (likely) get his feet wet as a starting quarterback in the NFL this season.

It should be interesting to see how both individuals handle the pressure of the NFL.
