Trevor Lawrence was ‘pissed off’ after taking targeting hit from Ohio State’s Shaun Wade

Ohio State led Clemson 16-0 in the second quarter of the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday. Everything was going the Buckeyes’ way.
Sure, Ohio State could have been scoring touchdowns instead of kicking field goals, but a 16-0 lead isn’t something you complain about against an undefeated Clemson team. However, some fans are complaining about the targeting call on Shaun Wade that automatically ejected him from the game and completely changed the momentum of the game.

From that point on, it seemed as though the Tigers were the team in control — not the Buckeyes.
On Monday, Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence talked about taking that targeting hit and thinking about the Buckeyes who had thought they may have knocked him out of the game completely.
It apparently pissed him off:
Lawrence asked about hit from Wade. Said he was briefly worried it was collarbone because he lost feeling.
"Then I got pissed off because they were over there thinking they knocked me out and they had all the momentum. So I popped up. I just had a different edge when I got up."

That’s all Clemson needed. Lawrence got that “different edge” to him and the Buckeyes couldn’t seem to slow down the Tigers from that point forward.
Not having Wade certainly hurt in its own right. But ticking off Lawrence likely didn’t help matters, either.
