Ohio State struggled with Oregon in the first half of their marquee Week 2 matchup.
The Buckeyes struggled to move the ball offensively, and fans are blaming the lack of production on starting quarterback. CJ Stroud’s numbers are fine, but he wasn’t able to lead OSU to enough points in the first half.
Oregon is ahead 14-7 partially because of Ohio State’s inability to sustain drives. Stroud completed 15-of-21 passes for 173 yards and 1 touchdown in the first half, but a good chunk of that production came on one drive.
Ohio State fans have started to grow impatient with Stroud, and are asking for 5-star phenom Quinn Ewers to get a chance under center. The Buckeyes also have two other bluechip quarterbacks on the roster in Kyle McCord and Jack Miller.
Ewers, who should be a senior in high school right now, enrolled at Ohio State at the start of fall camp. Many scouts believe he’s the best NFL quarterback prospect to come through the high school ranks since Trevor Lawrence.
Here’s some of the reaction from Ohio State fans who are hoping to see Ewers on the field in the second half:
Hate to be that guy but it’s Quinn Ewers time

If Ohio State could just skip to the Quinn Ewers era that would be great.

I wonder if Quinn Ewers can play defense? This #Buckeye defense is horrendous.

Stroud is absolute trash. Can’t throw, is inaccurate, slow processing. Might be time to see what Quinn Ewers has.
