Ohio State has provided a status update on two players before its second basketball game of the season on Friday night.

Kyle Young will be available for the Buckeyes as they host Niagara on Friday night in Columbus. The forward missed the season opener against Akron on Tuesday due to what Chris Holtmann described as a vestibular dysfunction, causing vertigo, nausea and balance issues.

Cedric Russell will not be playing on Friday night. According to multiple reports, he is dealing with a death in the family at this time.

Russell played 4 minutes in Ohio State’s season-opening win over Akron.

The Buckeyes escaped with a win over the Zips thanks to a last-second bucket from Zed Key to push Ohio State to a 67-66 victory. Niagara enters this game at 0-1, falling to Xavier 63-60 on Tuesday.

Young provides the Buckeyes with an element of toughness on both ends of the court. Last season, he averaged 8.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per contest.

Tipoff between Ohio State and Niagara is set for 7 p.m. ET.
