Urban Meyer diagrams why Ohio State's defense has been lights out
Urban Meyer recently did a deep dive on Ohio State’s defense leading up to the matchup at Wisconsin this weekend.
No. 3 Ohio State ranks third in the nation in points per game allowed (10.0). The Buckeyes haven’t allowed over 17 points in any game this season.
The former Ohio State coach and current analyst for FOX Sports and the Big Ten Network diagrammed some examples of the defense’s dominance in the latest Urban Analysis.

Meyer gives plenty of credit to Ryan Day and offensive coordinator Jim Knowles for revamping the defensive system.
“I think any time that you have a certain part of your team that’s not performing you have to ask yourself why. It’s cause and effect. I really admire coaches especially the way that Ryan did it,” Meyer said. “He just went to work and got it fixed. This is as good of defense as Ohio State has played in several years.”
Meyer says a major key has been the regression of big plays being allowed by the defense compared to last season.
“The issues they had were big plays especially against the Wolverines and Georgia. That seems to be fixed. We still have a lot of football left,” Meyer said. “Their tackling is outstanding…They want to contest every ball thrown.”
Ohio State at Wisconsin is set for 7:30 p.m. EST and will be televised on NBC.
