Urban Meyer loves what Ryan Day brings to Ohio State. Meyer also sees 2022 as “a big year” for Day and a loaded Buckeyes squad.
During a radio appearance on Don’t At Me with Dan Dakich, Meyer called his former OC “elite” and believes Day did a great job continuing the infrastructure Mayer brought to Columbus (Via 247 Sports):
“I just like to use the word elite. He was an elite offensive coach. There’s a lot of elite offensive coaches. I loved his work ethic. I loved the fact he’s a player-first coach like we all were at Ohio State. Wanted to make sure he carried on the infrastructure of safety of players in the offseason and nutritional that makes Ohio State if not the top program, one of the top two programs in America. He also had a great infrastructure around him and he kept those guys. He makes good decisions. This is a big year for him. I love Ryan Day and we’re still extremely close. They are loaded right now.”
Meyer is definitely right that 2022 is a key year for the Buckeyes. Day reiterated during B1G Media Days that the goals at Ohio State are always to beat Michigan, win the B1G and win the national championship.
Last season, the Buckeyes failed to accomplish any of those goals. We’ll see if Day can lead a resurgence to the College Football Playoff entering 2022.
