Well, nobody can claim that Urban Meyer is letting his past allegiances to hinder his analysis and perspective. That’s fairly clear in his national championship selection.

Each week, the FOX college football crew make their College Football Playoff and national champion predictions. Meyer is on that crew and has been pretty consistent the last few weeks, picking Alabama to win the national title. That prediction actually goes against most of his colleagues.

Meyer does have Ohio State competing in the four-team field, but he doesn’t expect the Buckeyes to hoist the trophy at the end of the year.

Each of the six analysts — Meyer, Rob Stone, Joel Klatt, Brady Quinn, Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush — has Ohio State in their four-team field. Four have the Buckeyes winning the title. Two, including Meyer, have gone with Alabama.

Below are the selections:

Surprisingly, Quinn has three SEC teams in his mix, picking Georgia, LSU and Alabama to make the College Football Playoff. Ohio State is his fourth team.

We’re only at the midway point of the season, so plenty can change between now and the end of the season. But there’s an awful lot of faith that the Buckeyes can win a national title.
