Urban Meyer on healthy, fresh roster for Ohio State: 'That's not by accident'
Urban Meyer is in Phoenix to take part in the Fiesta Bowl press day, and one question he addressed was the overall health of Ohio State heading into Saturday’s matchup.
In his comments, Meyer indicated that the Buckeyes have a very healthy roster. Outside of Jonathon Cooper, there haven’t been many serious injuries for Ohio State to deal with.
The status of Justin Fields’ knee has been a topic of conversation after he initially injured the knee against Penn State and reinjured the knee against Michigan. However, he played the B1G Championship Game without much of an issue and head coach Ryan Day said he expects the team to be at full strength for Clemson.

Meyer went on to say the health of Ohio State’s roster is a credit to Day’s work throughout the season. Keeping the team fresh is a responsibility that falls on the shoulders of the head coach, something Day has shown an ability to manage.
The other piece of the puzzle that Meyer highlighted is the work of Mickey Marotti, Ohio State’s Assistant AD for Football Sports Performance and legendary strength and conditioning coach:
“You look out there, they’re all healthy – other than Jonathon Cooper,” said Meyer. “And they’re fresh and healthy, which is a job of the head coach, to manage the bodies, and that’s where Mickey (Marotti)’s so involved. That’s not by accident.”

Hopefully, the Buckeyes are able to stay fresh for two more games this season.
