The third week of the college football season presents a particularly interesting conference matchup, as Ohio State travels to Bloomington to take on Indiana. It will serve as the first B1G game for both teams in 2019.
We all know what’s at stake heading into the game — Ohio State is looking to begin its pursuit of third-straight B1G title while Indiana is looking to notch its first win over the Buckeyes in over 30 years (1988). Ohio State is a huge favorite, but Indiana always seems to play well against the B1G powerhouse.
During his weekly appearance on Big Ten Network, Urban Meyer was able to give a first-hand account of what to expect in Saturday’s B1G East matchup. While the Buckeyes are heavy favorites, he knows just the kind of problems the Hoosiers present.
“Indiana’s got very good players in certain positions. They could certainly play at Ohio State,” Meyer said. “I can tell you Ohio State respects Indiana because of they way they play us, and it’s every year…Indiana gives you fits.”
Ohio State has won 25 games in the series and leads the all-time head-to-head 74-12-5. But the Hoosiers have hung with the Buckeyes through three quarters the last few years. It’s been those fourth quarter droughts that have hurt Indiana.
Will this be the year the Hoosiers finally get over the hump? Or do the Buckeyes start their journey to another division title with a 1-0 start in B1G play?
It should be a fun contest.
"We lost early in 2014 in a terrible loss to Virginia Tech. You just gotta rally the troops."
