Urban Meyer didn’t get to start the 2018 season on the sidelines for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
All went well, though. Despite Meyer’s suspension, the Buckeyes didn’t lose a game. And when Meyer returned, Ohio State proceeded to lose just one game and is now 11-1 entering the Big Ten Championship against Northwestern.
On Friday afternoon, a report came out that Meyer’s final season coaching Ohio State may be in 2019, and that Ryan Day — the team’s offensive coordinator — was in line for a big extension (potentially with the incentive of being the Buckeyes’ next head coach).
As the day wore on, Meyer got to speak with the media ahead of the Big Ten Championship.
He was asked about a number of things, including the report that 2019 would be his last at Ohio State:
I asked Meyer about the @footballscoop report claiming that 2019 will be his final season at Ohio State: "No comment on that."

Meyer asked about dealing with the speculation about his future. "(We're) just trying to do the job we're asked to do. It hasn't been a distraction."

Meyer on offensive coordinator Ryan Day and how he handles job opportunities for assts. "Ryan Day is elite. I've said that many, many times. There will be time and space (to talk about his future). Now is not the time."
