Urban Meyer is more concerned with the performance of his own team than Purdue this week. At least that’s how it seems based on what the Ohio State head coach said during his weekly radio show Thursday.

Meyer talked about Purdue earlier in the week, but on Thursday, the head coach addressed questions regarding Ohio State’s special teams and offensive balance.

The Buckeyes are making a change at kicker due to an injury to Sean Nuernberger. It will be Blake Haubeil who will take over the kicking responsibilities Saturday.

“We do have a lot of confidence in Blake,” Meyer said. “He’ll get the start on Saturday. There’s a thump when he hits it. Great kid, too.”

Meyer also complimented the punting game, saying it’s something his team works extremely hard on every week.

“We work very hard at it,” Meyer said. “If you notice who’s on it, it’s our best players.”

After talking about the kicking and punting game, Meyer talked about the offense and how he’d like to see a more balanced attack.

Over the last few weeks, the Buckeyes have had trouble running the football and Mike Weber and J.K. Dobbins haven’t been as effective as they were earlier in the season.

“We need to have more balance,” Meyer said.

The Buckeyes rushed for a total of 600 yards in the first two games against Oregon State and Rutgers. Since then, they haven’t eclipsed the 200-yard mark. It’s put even more pressure on Dwayne Haskins to deliver.

Fortunately, the quarterback has delivered all season.

Ohio State will try to provide more looks on the ground and establish some sort of presence in the rushing attack Saturday against Purdue.
