Herman was Meyer’s offensive coordinator at Ohio State from 2012-to-2014. After his time at OSU, Herman took the Houston head coaching job. The Cougars were 22-4 in 2 seasons under Herman.
Herman took the Texas head coaching job ahead of the 2017 season. The Longhorns went 32-18 in 4 seasons, posting a 22-13 record in conference play and 4-0 in bowl games. UT moved on from Herman after the 2020 season.
Last season, Herman was an offensive analyst with the Chicago Bears. For CBS Sports Network, Herman will be calling games. His Week 1 assignment is North Texas vs. SMU, per Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman.
Mullen will be a college football studio analyst, contributing every Saturday on ESPN2 in addition to ESPN studio wraps on Thursday and Friday nights. He joins anchor Kevin Connors, who is beginning his fourth season on the ESPN2 desk, and analyst Sam Acho returning on the regular ESPN2 studio crew.
From 2000-to-2008, Meyer and Mullen worked together at Notre Dame (2000), Bowling Green (2001-02), Utah (2003-04) and Florida (2005-08). Mullen took the Mississippi State head coaching ahead of the 2009 season. He returned to UF as head coach from 2018-to-2021.
