Ohio State tops the list again.

If you’re a student-athlete searching for the best place to play college football and receive the best education, Columbus should be your destination. At least according to USA Today.

The publication released an article, citing the 10 best places to play Division I football and receive a great education. Two B1G schools were listed in the article, Ohio State listed No. 1 and Wisconsin ranked at No. 6.

Why were the Buckeyes listed at the top? USA Today explained:

Ohio State’s Buckeyes are widely recognized as one of the best college football teams in the land. Over the years, they’ve won eight national championships and 37 conference titles…

In addition to having a tremendous football team, Ohio State offers a great education to students at a reasonable price. The school has an average graduation rate of over 80% which puts it well above the U.S. average. Some of the most popular majors are psychology, communications, and finance.

Ranking these schools may seem like an arbitrary practice, but it was actually done fairly methodically. There were several factors included that produced the ranking for each school. Here are the list of factors included, based on collegefactual.com:

  • Athletic competitiveness
  • Overall college quality
  • Academic Progress Rate
  • Athletic aid per student
  • Financial resources

Ohio state nudged out other schools like TCU, Duke, Notre Dame and Alabama for the No. 1 ranking. The Buckeyes has some bragging rights over a few other major programs right now.

Wisconsin was the only other B1G school to make the list. Here’s why the Badgers came in at No. 6:

Paul Chryst was recently been hired as the head coach for the Wisconsin Badgers after Gary Anderson departed in 2014. His first two years at the school have been quite successful, and in November 2016, Chryst was named the Hayes-Schembechler Coach of the Year in the Big Ten Conference.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is ranked in the top 200 schools nationwide and ranked as the #1 school in Wisconsin. Students enjoy a large and diverse campus, as well as higher than average starting salaries upon graduation.
