Veteran Ohio State DB, former 4-star prospect, intends to test transfer portal
One Ohio State defensive back and a veteran member of the program is planning to test the transfer portal.
According to Jeremy Birmingham with Rivals, Cameron Martinez plans to enter the transfer portal. Though Martinez has played defensive back for the Buckeyes, Birmingham says Martinez is open to either side of the ball at a new destination.
Ohio State 4th-year safety Cameron Martinez tells me he’ll enter the transfer portal.
The Buckeyes defensive back is open to playing either side of the ball at next stop. He was a two-time Michigan HS Player of the Year (2018-2019) and the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2019.

The 5-foot-10 and 192-pound Martinez had his best season as a redshirt freshman in 2021. He delivered 21 total tackles, an interception and 4 pass breakups that season. Martinez appeared in 13 games a season ago with 15 total tackles but he produced just 2 tackles in the 2023 season.
As for the prospects of playing either side of the ball, Martinez came out of high school as a 4-star athlete per the 247 Sports Composite in the 2020 recruiting class. He played quarterback in high school and was a Player of the Year recipient in Michigan.
