C.J. Stroud and Cade Stover shared the news that they will both be captains this season with their families. They will be joining DL Tyler Friday, LB Tommy Eichenburg, WR Kamryn Babb, and S Kourt Williams II in representing the Buckeyes this season.

Stroud was an obvious choice after his breakout season in 2021. He threw for 4,435 yards passing with 44 touchdowns. He broke the news to his mom, who understandably made sure everything was alright after getting the random call from his QB coach Corey Dennis.

“Got some good news today that I’m a captain this year,” said. Stroud. “I’m excited. They already voted for me, and it’s a great honor for me just to be respected.”

Next up on the call list was Stover. Stover has appeared in 24 games for Ohio State. His OC/TE coach Kevin Wilson did most of the talking, and had some kind words to say about him. Nothing was better than his mom’s candid reaction.

“The team got together and had a lot of great meetings, and we talked a lot about leadership,” said Wilson. “He’s gonna be one of these captains of the 2022 Ohio State Buckeyes. He’s one of my natural leaders. Great teams have great leaders, and this guy is the one of the best that I’ve been around.”
