It’s impossible to argue that Dwayne Haskins deserves an invitation to the Heisman Trophy presentation ceremony later this month. The big question, though, is whether he’s got a shot to win it.

Haskins was spectacular again in Saturday’s B1G Championship Game, throwing for 499 yards and five touchdowns in Ohio State’s 45-24 win over Northwestern. It was a remarkable ending to a sensational campaign.

Was it enough to lift Haskins over the likes of Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa and Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray, though? Buckeyes defensive lineman Chase Young doesn’t think it’s that hard of a decision.

“Did you see the game?” Young said. “He’s the best quarterback that ever came to Ohio State. He’s the best quarterback in the nation right now, I don’t care who you say.”

That’s a pretty good endorsement from a defensive teammate.

Haskins finished the regular season with 4,081 yards and 42 touchdowns with just seven interceptions. He completed 69 percent of his passes and guided the Buckeyes to a 12-1 record and a B1G title.

While that looks like plenty to win the Heisman on paper, Tagovailoa and Murray are also pretty strong candidates.

We’ll find out soon enough if Haskins brings the Heisman back to Columbus.
