It’s the argument that’s going to fill our timelines until Sunday. Ohio Sate or Oklahoma? Which team deserves that fourth and final spot in the College Football Playoff.
Right now, it appears that the Sooners will get the nod. On Tuesday’s rankings show, Oklahoma was slotted in the No. 5 spot while Ohio State was set No. 6. It would be awfully hard for the Buckeyes to leapfrog OU if both teams were to win their conference championship games on Saturday.
But is that the right decision? Are the Sooners more deserving than the Buckeyes? FOX Sports radio host Colin Cowherd believes that’s the case.
It all comes down to the losses the two teams have suffered this season.
“The Ohio State-Oklahoma thing is real simple to me,” Cowherd said. “I have a track record of Oklahoma giving great SEC defenses fits. No. 2, I can stomach Oklahoma’s loss. I can’t stomach [Ohio State’s] 29-point loss to Purdon’t.”
Ohio State would likely need Texas to upset Oklahoma for a second time this season in order to have a shot at the College Football Playoff.
