Ohio State defeated Michigan State 26-6 on Saturday on the road.
The score makes it look like the Buckeyes handled the Spartans, but that wasn’t exactly the case. The offense never truly got going and many points were essentially scored thanks to punter Drue Chrisman.
Chrisman had 5 punts end up within the Spartans’ 7-yard-line and a safety and TD came thanks to Michigan State being pinned near its own end-zone. Michigan State had two field goals and didn’t score a TD the entire game.
The Buckeyes’ punting game and defense were essential in the victory, despite the 20-point differential. Offensively, Ohio State’s Mike Weber totaled 104 yards and 1 TD on his 22 carries, while QB Dwayne Haskins threw for 227 yards and a score.
Michigan State had 3 turnovers compared to Ohio State’s 1.
After the victory, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer spoke with the media:
Urban Meyer on the Tate Martell package: “I think we’re going to do more of that.” He says that it gets “rugged” in the res zone, where Martell can help.
