“The Game” has been won.
Ohio State is victorious, once again. That’s the one that matters. But, what beating Michigan every year typically means is that the Buckeyes get to go to the Big Ten Championship.
That’s just what usually happens.
This year is no different, and No. 21 Northwestern awaits No. 6 Ohio State. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. on Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. with the game being televised on FOX.
Each week, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer talks on 97.1 The Fan and discusses his team’s past performance and what’s ahead. Here is what Meyer said ahead of the matchup against Northwestern:
Meyer said, as expected, that Wyatt Davis will replace the injured Demetrius Knox at RG. Said he's had a couple good days at practice. Meyer said Branden Bowen has been moved to right guard to be Davis' backup.

Meyer on OSU's success with crossing routes: "The execution by the offensive line and Chris Olave, my goodness, he's going to be just a great player."

Meyer on Northwestern, which has won 15 of last 16 Big Ten games: "Very good players who feed off each other."

Meyer said offense will have to be patient, which isn't easy these days with the quick-strike offense in vogue.

Meyer said he recruited Northwestern OC Mick McCall when McCall was in high school and Meyer was at Colorado State.

Meyer on Haskins' running: "You don't have to be J.T. but you have to be a threat." … "I thought that was by far his best game."

Meyer on TE Luke Farrell: "He's much improved. Blocking those two defensive ends, he did very good. He's turning into a big-time tight end."
— Bill Rabinowitz 🗞 (@brdispatch) November 29, 2018
Meyer again raves about SR WR captains McLaurin, Dixon and Campbell: "It's what you see but so much is what you don't see. How does Chris Olave become good special teams player? Because he sees Terry."

OSU saw in its research that Michigan's punter took 2.2 seconds to kick the ball. OSU's standard is 2.0. So Meyer gave go-ahead to try Schiano's punt block. Olave blocked it. Meyer also credited Keandre Jones and Justin Hilliard for creating space for Olave.

Meyer said that Parris Campbell wasn't highly recruited at first. Meyer said he went to SVSM to see Dante Booker and noticed Campbell and asked Mark Pantoni about him.

Meyer on DE Jonathon Cooper: "He played great. His energy level was high. He rattled that quarterback a couple times. I love Coop."

Meyer on LB Malik Harrison: "Malik played fantastic. He's getting better and better and better." Said all the LBs played well.
