Clemson coach Dabo Swinney just gave Ohio State some bulletin board material.

Swinney ranked the Buckeyes No. 11 in his final Coaches Poll, far below the national consensus.

He’s got the Buckeyes behind multi-loss Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma and Iowa State. He’s also putting OSU behind a couple G5 programs in Cincinnati and Coastal Carolina.

This is consistent with the frustration he’s shown throughout this process about Ohio State’s lack of games played. Earlier this month, Swinney blasted the Playoff committee for continuing to rank Ohio State No. 4.

Ohio State coach Ryan Day doesn’t vote in the coaches poll, so we’re not sure where he would have had the Tigers this year.

Clemson and Ohio State met in this exact situation a year ago. The Tigers came out on top in that game 29-23 after Justin Fields threw an interception in the end zone in the final minute.

Kick off for this year’s game, which will be played at the Sugar Bowl, is on Jan. 1, 2021.
