Will Howard delivers 'eternally grateful' farewell to Ohio State, Buckeye Nation
Will Howard came to Ohio State for one final season of eligibility after starting his career at Kansas State. He made the most of it, and now leaves Columbus as a national champion!
Last offseason, it was not surprising to many when Kyle McCord, the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes throughout 2023, decided to transfer. But there were many questions about how Ryan Day would address that hole at QB.

Selecting Howard as his QB was not a move without risk for Day. After all, Howard had a career 58.8% completion percentage in 4 seasons and had just completed his best season at 61.3%.
However, Howard took his efficiency to the next level playing for Day and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. He completed 73% of his passes, threw for over 4,000 yards and accumulated 42 total touchdowns in a season for the ages.
On Friday night, Howard officially bid his farewell to the Buckeyes in a video on social media:
I believe that everything in life happens for a reason, and that God has a plan for all of us, and I am eternally grateful that my plan led me here, to THE Ohio State University.
The faith of the men in the locker room has moved me more than they could ever imagine. It has strengthened my faith throughout this whole year…
Thank you Coach Day for believing in me when not a lot of others did. Thank you Coach Kelly for pushing me to be the best that I can be every single day. I’ve got to give so much credit to those 2 guys, and Billy Fessler is one of those guys who doesn’t get a lot of credit, too.
Finally, Thank you to Buckeye Nation for embracing me from Day 1. Thank you for taking me in and embracing me as one of your own. I will be a Buckeye for life.
Thank you Ohio State. For everything. pic.twitter.com/qL0z1K9huA
