Will Howard and Jeremiah Smith were among the top Big Ten performers of the weekend, leading the Buckeyes to a 45-0 win against Purdue in Week 11. The Buckeyes hit the road to take on Northwestern this week before the big matchup in 2 weeks against undefeated Indiana.

On Monday, Howard was named the B1G’s Offensive Player of the Week award for Week 11, while Smith was named the Freshman of the Week. The conference handed out 4 individual honors for the weekend.

Offensive Player of the Week

  • Will Howard, Ohio State QB

For the 4th time this season, Howard completed at least 80% of his passes, while finishing with 260 passing yards and 4 total touchdowns. He distributed the ball around to all of his playmakers, as 8 Ohio State players had catches in this game.

Defensive Player of the Week

  • Carson Schwesinger, UCLA LB

Schwesinger helped lead the Bruins to a stifling defensive performance against Iowa, as he finished with 7 tackles and 2 interceptions.

The Hawkeyes entered the game as the No. 10 rushing attack in the country, but the Bruins were able to hold Iowa to only 80 yards rushing.

Special Teams Player of the Week

  • Dominic Zvada, Michigan K

He made 3 field goals in the loss to Indiana, as he knocked down kicks from 39, 22 and 56 yards. With that 56-yard kick, he has now become the single-season and career record holder at Michigan for the most 50+ yard FG made.

Freshman of the Week

  • Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State WR

Smith had 6 catches for 87 yards and 1 touchdown in the win against Purdue. In the game, he became the all-time leader in catches, yards and touchdowns for a freshman at Ohio State. He passed Cris Carter in all of these statistics, and he now has 45 catches, 765 yards and 9 touchdowns.
