A dark night in Columbus made a winning impression on an important 2016 recruit.

Four-star tailback Antonio Williams gave his verbal commitment to Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes on Sunday morning following his visit Saturday night.

Williams joined the Buckeyes’ top-rated 2016 recruiting class. The North Carolina senior made headlines earlier in the week when he announced he was decommitting from Wisconsin to take an official visit to Columbus.

He tweeted the news last week:

“After talking to the staff and through thorough thinking and praying for understanding, I have decided to re-open my recruitment and de-commit from the University of Wisconsin. This is being done out of pure respect for the staff and I would not feel like an honest individual if I did not to this and took a visit to another school. I hope that all will respect my decision as I do what is best for me and my family.”

Williams’ commitment is the subject of an interesting recruiting triangle in the B1G. Kareem Walker, who verbally committed to the Buckeyes last January and is the top tailback recruit in the country, took an official visit to Michigan last weekend. That led to a pair of Michigan and Ohio State coaches exchanging Twitter jabs without directly referencing Walker.

If the Buckeyes do lose Walker to Michigan, it’s clear that they’ve made other plans.
