Former Ohio State star and current NFL standout Joey Bosa has some advice for his former head coach Urban Meyer in regards to his transition into the professional ranks: win the locker room.

That’s what Bosa says will be key to Meyer’s success as the new head coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars. That’s not been a problem for the former Ohio State head coach in the past, but in the NFL, it could be a little bit different.

Bosa says it’s critical.

“I think Coach Meyer’s success in the NFL really depends on whether or not he will be able to get the locker room to buy into what he’s coaching,” Bosa said, according to 247Sports. “That’s what he did at Ohio State. He brought in a culture of excellence and we either had to buy in or we weren’t going to play.

“I think it really depends on that, because what he’s bringing is great and it will be successful if you have a team of players that put in a lot of effort and believe in the system and believe in the culture.”

Bosa played for Meyer for three seasons at Ohio State before making the leap to the NFL. He was the No. 3 overall selection in the 2016 draft and has spent his entire career with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers.

Meyer’s job with the Jaguars will be his first career stop in the NFL, and it presents a new challenge. There are plenty of questions as to whether the highly-successful college coach will be able to make the necessary adjustments to succeed in the NFL.

If Meyer takes the advice of his former star defensive end, he’ll give himself a chance.
