As the end of the college football nears, the speed of the coaching carousel increases.
There was another head coaching change on Sunday, as Colorado decided to part ways with Mike MacIntyre after six seasons with the program. The Buffaloes were 5-6 on the season with a 2-6 mark in Pac-12 play.
In his six seasons, MacIntyre owned a 30-44 record.
With his departure came a list of potential replacements. It shouldn’t be a surprise that Ohio State offensive coordinator Ryan Day is considered to be one of the top candidates for the job.
Sunday afternoon, Yahoo! Sports released a list of potential candidates for the new vacancy. Day was the only B1G name mentioned, coming in at No. 7 on the list. Here’s why Yahoo! Sports believes the offensive coordinator would be a good fit in Boulder:
He’s the top offensive coordinator on the board, which makes him a logical candidate at most open jobs. This is a pinch of a regional awkward fit, as he’s primarily an Easter coach outside of a forgettable season as the 49ers quarterback coach.
Day has been the co-offensive coordinator at Ohio State for the past two seasons, sharing the role with Kevin Wilson. While Urban Meyer was suspended, Day filled in and led the Buckeyes to a 3-0 start.
This won’t be the only coaching job that Day’s name is tied too, but it would be an interesting choice. After such a stellar coaching job this season, he’ll probably be receiving a lot of phone calls.
