During the radio interview — and during the SportsCenter interview, Smith claims he never abused his ex-wife; however, CFB reporter Brett McMurphy who broke the original story story shared a text message conversation between Smith and his ex-wife in which McMurphy says Smith was admitting that he strangled his wife and apologized for the action.
