Penn State received some good news on Thursday night, landing one of the nation’s top tight ends in the 2022 recruiting cycle.

Four-star tight end Holden Staes gave his verbal pledge to the Nittany Lions on Thursday evening, becoming the fourth player of the class to commit to Penn State. He made his announcement with a post on Twitter.

Staes is a native of Atlanta. He has received a lot of offers on the recruiting front.

Staes is ranked as one of the top 200 players in the 2022 recruiting class, coming in at No. 172 overall. He’s listed as the No. 4 tight end and the No. 17 prospect out of the state of Georgia.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end received nearly two dozen offers during the cycle. He picked Penn State over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska, LSU, Oregon and Wisconsin.

Penn State is now up to four verbal commitments in the 2022 recruiting class. The Nittany Lions sit No. 3 nationally and No. 2 in the B1G.
