Penn State made headlines Thursday afternoon on the recruiting trail.

However, it was bad news. Not good news.

Dont’e Thornton, a 4-star WR in the Class of 2021, announced his decommitment from the Nittany Lions:

According to 247Sports, Thornton ranks as the No. 4 WR in his class and is the No. 38 player in the entire country. Thonton has offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Maryland, Oregon and others.

As Thornton tweeted, Penn State is still in the picture. However, it’s hard to take any good news from a player that just decommitted.

Thornton was only one of two prospects committed to the Nittany Lions in 2021 and now, the team’s class only consists of 4-star TE Nick Elksnis.

Elksnis, a Top 20-rated TE, committed to Penn State on July 31.
