Abdul Carter officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Friday morning.

The announcement comes 1 day after Carter led the Nittany Lions in to a narrow Orange Bowl defeat against Notre Dame. Carter played through a significant shoulder and injury and still recorded 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 quarterback hurry and a pass breakup.

Here’s his announcement:

Carter is set to be represented at the next level by well-known agent Drew Rosenhaus, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“I expect Abdul will be one of the top picks of this draft and a future All Pro,” Rosenhaus said in a statement.

While quarterbacks typically occupy the top spot in the NFL Draft, Carter is talented enough as a pass rusher that he’s expected to receive legitimate consideration for that slot. Carter is currently +2500 to go No. 1 overall, per the latest odds from FanDuel.

Even if Carter doesn’t go No. 1, he’s projected to be a top 5 pick in this year’s class. He ends his junior season at Penn State with a Big Ten-best 24 tackles for loss and 12 sacks. He departs Penn State with 23 career sacks, which is the most by any Nittany Lions player over the past 20 seasons.
