Penn State freshman linebacker Abdul Carter has been named a finalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year award, which, you guessed it, is given to the best freshman in college football yearly.
Carter has been nothing short of incredible for the Nittany Lions this season alongside fellow freshman phenom Nick Singleton.
The other finalist for the award include North Carolina QB Drake Maye, LSU LB Harold Perkins Jr., Georgia DB Malaki Starks and Ole Miss RB Quinshon Judkins.

Carter has totaled 35 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 4 pass deflections this season. Those are good numbers for a veteran, much less a first-year player facing off against fellow B1G talent.
